I bought my first home in 1999 and did not know anything about buying a home. My lack of knowledge steered me into an adjustable rate mortgage. Bad idea considering I knew I would be living in it for the rest of my life which meant over 15 years. Refinance was the only way out of this financial nightmare ! Glad I did because I was able to get a 3.5% interest reduction. so this blog is really about learning from my mistake as a first time home buyer and not haring an agent the had my best interest at heart. I regret to this day that I did not shop around for a Realtor® who would have mine and my families best interest above their own. That is one reason why I became a Realtor myself. Yes, I do like to make money but I also enjoy helping family, friends and new clients find the right fit in a home and the best loan. The shows on HGTV make home buying and selling look easy but in reality it is not. There are many unseen time and energy spent looking for the right home, countless hours negotiating with the seller or buyer, heart break because the perfect home you want had some major issues discovered during the inspection and the owner and or the seller had great expectations on what the other should do in order to get the home, stress because they are on a time line and did not have a proper plan to start the home buying process. for what is worth interview at least three Realtor's® and then decide which one you are going to hire, make a plan with them to help you get set up the right and efficient way to sell or buy a home ! Rome wasn't built in a day and it took an a team to do it !
Peace to you !
